SOGS #14: An Afternoon at Betty Acres

Notes: Cheese, milk, piglets, vintage milk bottles, hay bales, one pomeranian, 4 beautiful cows, and a farmer named Aissa. I spent the afternoon at Betty Acres farm — and recorded the sounds of afternoon milking.

SOGS #10: Train

Notes: The Ulster & Delaware used to bring travelers and goods to this part of the Catskills. Now it shuttles passengers the 24 miles from Arkville and Roxbury — along the river and past small towns and farms. You can see the train from our farm . . . and the farm from the train. Look, there it is now . . .
SOGS #9: Cassie’s Cafe

Notes: Cassie’s Cafe, the local diner in Roxbury, NY, opens at 6 a.m. The morning coffee crew rolls in around 7:30 to have muffins, egg sandwiches and coffee, and to talk about . . . golf, mostly. Eva and Bob work the tables, and Cassie is in the kitchen.
SOGS #7: Waterfall by Night

Notes: Turn off State Highway 30, and scurry down a steep hill. Walk along the rocks, following the sounds of rushing water. My fellow artist in residence, Sybille, and I visited at night to hear the sounds in the dark.
